Trapezium One

How Trapezium1 is born

I was Talking with Raman, our Vice president about Rigel-ABC project.

the fact we can't use an unpopular board to automate this project,

and the fact that the cost should be very low.

then Raman told me "why you don't use ATMega?"

I told to Raman "Yes this is a good idea, the ATMega328,

the market is full of it, including clones"

Raman said "yes they cost less than one USD".

Then i've think how at Sanico they do their complex RF Box for analog/digital TV hardware,

they don't use any PCB, they build a circuit in 3D with soldering iron and the cutted scrap (lead-in) of passive

components, with no PCB at all... really pure art, and the assembly is manual but very very quick...

then i told to Raman "Yes, we can use the bare chip, without any PCB, this is respectful for a project

for food, Aeroponics, it is our chance for what is coming in next years... we need to pay respect for this

and to any other project like this. Low cost and availability are very important factor,

so we can't use Mizar32 with this even if my idea was so at the beginning to do all in in Lisp and with Mizar32..."

Then i added "NoDuino" We will call it "NoDuino" "since there is not Arduino at all,

the bare chip connected to female headers voltage regulator and RTC connected with soldering iron... "

Raman said "Yeah!! NoDuino..."

But... i've think later how we can use a chip with 2KB of RAM for the other projects that we have?

I mean even for Mira128 and other? The bare IPv6 Stack is above 6-7KB of RAM usage...

This will be confined only on Rigel-ABC, simple automation or expensive extensions.

So i searched an alternative, still simple and with 28 pin DIP package, with low cost and decent availability.

I found this PIC the PIC32MX170(or150), that is still a 28 pin DIP, with good availability, but very good specifications,

at same franchise price, maybe a little lower than Atmega328.

Was low power with RTC, and it had 256KB of flash and 64KB of RAM, the last thing i was really happy to learn

ther was a port of Contiki OS v3 was ready for this Architecture and Platform.

So that The NoDuino, finally becomed Trapezium1. A really cheap node for the Brain Of Things

and a fully qualified one! .
